Rules of Engagement

Due to popular demand and trail success, the Delaware Tourism Office has distributed all Delaware Trackable Coins for our Geocaching Trail. Stay tuned for future trails from the Tourism Office! The Delaware Geocaching Trail is still open and the caches are live and ready to be discovered.

Welcome to the State of Delaware’s first Geocaching Trail. The first 100 participants to complete this trail will receive a beautiful limited edition coin to be displayed with Delaware pride.

Please take a moment to review our rules of play and discovery below.

NOTE: You must find and physically log a minimum of 5 caches in each of the 3 counties in Delaware - New Castle County, Kent County and Sussex County.

  1. First, click on the "Passport" link and complete the form to receive your passport for your geocaching adventure by email . (You’ll need to print the passport keep track of your stickers and to obtain your coin.)
  2. Next, you must click ‘Enter the Adventure’, which will take you to the Geocaching.com website. Geocaching.com is the official gps geocache webpage. This is the site where you will obtain your coordinates for the Delaware Geocaching Trail caches.
    1. If you are already a member please log-in to view the caches on The Delaware Geocaching Trail.
    2. If you are not a member, please sign up for a FREE membership to view the caches on The Delaware Geocaching Trail.
  3. Please remember safety when proceeding to find a hidden cache. Let someone know where you are going at all times.
  4. Please respect the location of the hidden cache and the attraction.
  5. Please do not destroy, remove, alter or relocate the cache.

Congratulations! You’ve found a cache, here’s what you should do next:

  1. You must physically locate the cache and sign the log book that is inside. Please leave the pen so others can use it too.
  2. Take a sticker and place it in the corresponding County section of the passport.
  3. Please take a trinket, but if you do, please leave a trinket –and show off the one you found!
  4. Close the cache and return it to its location.
  5. Go to the Geocaching website to log your find and obtain coordinates for the next cache.
  6. Repeat the process till you’ve found all of the caches!
  7. Once you find a total of 15 (5 from each county), take your passport to any of the redemption locations below to receive you coin.
  8. Most importantly--have lots of fun!
